Confusion. Devastation. Moments of excitement, even.
What sort of emotional ups-and-downs did evacuees experience during World War 2? This is just one of the questions that we have explored through dramatic role play this week. In fact, we have been considering the impact on the entire family and country as a whole.
Inspired by this and the work of Henry Moore, we have been drawing evacuees and the shelters in which they and many others used throughout wartime Britain. Carefully considering the shape and texture in order to make our drawings as 3D as possible took incredible focus.
In Maths we have been exploring numbers – not quite up to a quinitillion though.
Here is some of our learning if you’d like to have a go:
Children were also given their Power Maths books and could tackle pages 6-15 if they wish. Answers will be given next week (entirely optional).
Also, it’d be great to check out Read Theory online over the weekend.
